Selena Gomez fears she's "too honest".

The singer-and-actress is constantly in the spotlight and her on/off relationship with ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber has been widely reported on.

Sometimes she has to hold herself back from revealing too much when she's doing a concert.

"Half the time I'm too honest onstage when I'm performing. I'm like, 'I wanted to tell you guys...' and my team is like, 'No!'" the 20-year-old laughed to MTV News.

"But as an artist, whether it's acting, performing, singing, writing, you want to share that, because that's where you want the outlet to go. You want to have people understand you a little, but better, but in your own interpretation."

The pretty brunette is currently promoting her upcoming album Stars Dance, which is due for release this summer.

Although she addresses her private life on the record, she likes to keep some things under wraps.

"With anything that I do, I feel like people assume that I say something that they get or they know, at the end of the day, it's super private to me," she explained.

"It's definitely important for me to keep that, but there is one song on the album I wanted to share a little bit more than I've ever shared before. It's a really pretty song. It is the only ballad, but the rest of the time, I like keeping a little mystery, because whether I tell you everything you want to know right now, they are still going to twist it and turn it into something else."

Selena's relationship with 19-year-old Justin has been tested due to work commitments and his apparent flirtations with other girls.

However, the stars were recently snapped together in Norway and it's now thought they have rekindled their romance.

Despite sometimes wishing her life away to be at a more settled age, Selena recorded a special song to remind her how important it is to live in the moment.

"Slow Down is one of my favourite tracks on the record... It's basically just about having this moment and not having to rush it, because I don't know how many times I've been like, 'I just want to be married and over this,' but this is what we're supposed to be enjoying," she revealed.

"So that's really more of what I wanted the album to be about, because I think, through people's opinions and everything that happens, they're expecting something else, but I just want it to exude confidence and strength."
