Beyoncé Knowles: People listen to me

Beyoncé Knowles is glad she doesn't have to "scream and bark" to get her point across.

The American singer has no problem making her views known to her team. She will always speak up if she disagrees and one of the best things about her level of success is that people always listen to her.

"I'm very strong and very opinionated. My 'no' means no, my 'yes' means yes. I'm not negotiating certain things - I'm not. But I don't feel that I have to become something I'm not," she told British magazine Vogue. "I don't have to scream and bark and do all these crazy things because - thank God - I'm at a place where if someone doesn't agree, it's no problem, I walk away. It takes people time to understand that you mean business."

Beyoncé insists she treats herself just as she does anyone else. She works hard and won't settle for second best and expects the same from those around her.

"I'm not just self-critical. I'm critical. I'm not so critical that I don't understand what's great and what's not, but I do push people. I push them and I push myself," she explained. "It's just who I am. I was that way when I was nine years old. And no one taught me that, it's just who I was."

The star has announced her The Mrs Carter Show World Tour, which kicks off later this month and run until September. She can't wait to get back on the road and views the experience totally differently to many other artists.

For the 31-year-old star, jetting around the world offers time to relax.

"Touring is the best because I'm able to have all day off. I can sleep until three o'clock. I can snuggle and watch cartoons all day. I can go to museums, restaurants and parks... But at seven o'clock I know what I'm doing," she said.

Beyoncé's family will join her on tour, including her husband Jay-Z and their 14-month-old daughter Blue Ivy. The tot has already developed a love of music, which her mom joked is probably down to the loud bass from hip-hop star Jay-Z's tunes.

"Right now, she just likes tempo. She likes salsa - anything with a beat. Which makes sense because I was on tour when I was pregnant and then I went on to her dad's tour and the 808 was probably shaking the womb..." the star laughed.
