Madonna believes no one has ever tried to 'box her in'.

The superstar claims that the secret to her success is remaining flexible in all her work whether that is singing, acting or directing.

The 53-year-old believes that throughout her career most people have been respectful of her decision to try anything.

' don't think anyone has ever tried to box me in,' she told the British edition of Hello! magazine. ' think that some people have had opinions about what I should or shouldn't do, but I've never had someone say to me, 'You cannot do this'.'

Madonna believes that this stems from her own open-mindedness. The icon has always been willing to experiment.

''ve always been adventurous both in my life and in my creativity ' I've always let myself be open to new things, experiences, opportunities, meeting people,' she smiled.
