Beyoncé Knowles is hoping to reunite with her Destiny's Child bandmates without her father being involved, it has been claimed.
The girl band was made up of the 33-year-old, Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland and had massive success from the late 90s until they disbanded in 2006. After reuniting last week for a one-off surprise performance, the women reportedly want to record a ten-year reunion album and head out on tour, but Beyoncé's dad seems to be the stumbling block.
'Although Destiny's Child is made up of the three ladies, Beyoncé's father and former manager Mathew Knowles owns one-fourth of the group as well,' a source close to the group revealed to the Daily Mail Online. 'Anytime they do anything under the name Destiny's Child, he has involvement in it and money from it.'
At the Stellar Gospel Awards in Las Vegas last weekend, Beyoncé and Kelly joined Michelle on stage to sing a gospel medley that included the song Alpha & Omega and the hit single Say Yes from her Journey to Freedom album. However the ladies were introduced by their individual names, not as Destiny's Child and it seems this is the main factor stopping a reunion tour from being announced.
'The problem is they can't figure out how to nix Mathew from the deal. They all want more than anything to give the fans one last run of the group, especially since they all have their own individual success, but don't want to deal with Mathew,' the source explained.
At one time, the 63-year-old managed each of the women's individual careers as well as the Grammy-winning group. Kelly was first to fire him in 2009, then Michelle in 2010 before Beyoncé cut all dealings with her dad after accusations of him stealing money from her in 2011.
