Rihanna and Perry 'never mention Brown'

Rihanna and Katy Perry weren't going to let 'a little incident' ruin their long-standing friendship.
Rihanna and Katy Perry weren't going to let "a little incident" ruin their long-standing friendship.

The pop princesses, who hadn't been seen together in public since 2012, met up on Monday. It was claimed that Katy was unhappy with Rihanna's decision to rekindle her romance with Chris Brown - who assaulted the Barbadian star in 2009 - earlier this year.

However, the twosome enjoyed dinner together in New York City this week, with Rihanna posting a black and white picture of her cuddling up to her pal on Instagram.

An insider has revealed that both Rihanna and Katy are happy to put the past behind them.

'Ri and Katy aren't about to let a little incident ruin their friendship. They were never on bad terms, really,' the source revealed to Hollywood Life.

'Katy said some stuff, Rihanna didn't give a damn or need help from anyone, so it's like it never really happened.'

Despite their reunion, the pair have reportedly vowed not to speak about Chris, as that's what started their disagreement in the first instance.

Rihanna, who is now single, remains philosophical about the relationship around Katy.

'Simply put, Rihanna didn't mention much about him at the party other than telling Katy, 'I hope he's good and I wish him well,'' the source explained.

'No hard feelings - there's just way more to her life than her relationship with Chris Brown.'

Katy spoke out about her relationship with Rihanna in the August edition of UK Elle magazine.

'I love her [Rihanna] and every time I see her, I'm reminded of the light that she has," she gushed. 'There's a lot of dark in this business. I know a lot of people out there with the most detrimental entourages - they are the root of their demise. It's really unfortunate but you can't save these people. My days of celebrity saving are over.'

A source close to Rihanna says the party-loving star "doesn't need to be saved by anyone" though. The insider revealed she is keeping a spiritual outlook on her situation.

'The man upstairs is to whom she owes everything. That's who brought her here and that's who she's leaving with!' the source revealed.
