Mariah Carey's 'heart and soul' in new album

Mariah Carey reveals she is putting her 'heart and soul' into every track on her upcoming record.
Mariah Carey reveals she is putting her 'heart and soul' into every track on her upcoming record.

The Grammy-winning songstress is hard at work on her 11th studio album.

Mariah posted a photograph on her Twitter page earlier this week showing her creating tunes at 5am for the EP.

She is absolutely committed to recording quality tracks.

"Wherever we go with this project, I''ve tried to keep the soul and heart in it, with me obviously as the through-line,' she told Billboard.

Mariah confesses that balancing her personal and professional life is a challenge at the moment.

She is currently mothering twins Monroe and Moroccan with her husband Nick Cannon, flying in and out of Las Vegas from Los Angeles to judge American Idol and working on her album.

"It''s a lot to juggle, but I''m handling it," Mariah said.

Making good music is the singer's primary focus at this time.

She has enlisted the help of top-notch producers Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, Big Jim Wright, Hit-Boy and The-Dream to make this a reality.

'It''s about making sure I have tons of good music, because at the end of the day, that''s the most important thing,' Mariah declared.

In terms of the sound she is going for, the songstress revealed that the album will contain a 'lot more raw ballads than people might expect.'

Although a release date has not yet been set on the untitled record, Mariah recently told Ryan Seacrest she wanted it out 'ASAP'.
