Selena Gomez stuns on tribute record

Selena Gomez did an "amazing" job when recording for a tribute album to Latin American star Selena.
Selena Gomez did an "amazing" job when recording for a tribute album to Latin American star Selena.

The 19-year-old singer is one of the stars who recorded a song on Enamorada De Ti - a new album in honour of the late singer-songwriter.

Selena's brother A.B. Quintanilla says the Disney star gave a fantastic vocal performance on the record.

"She did an amazing job," he told E! of Gomez at the Billboard Latin Music Awards in Miami.

"I had the opportunity to talk to her, we did some awards together and I had never met her before in person. And I took the opportunity to go say hello to her. And I want to thank her for coming onto the album."

A.B. has a great respect for Gomez. The 48-year-old singer-songwriter appreciates the star's loyal fanbase boosting his late sister's profile.

"She was named after my sister," he added. "That's pretty awesome. Selena with Selena. We want to thank all the Selena Gomez fans that have actually, they've been really, really at it just spreading the word. Hard core fans."

A.B. also had a proposition for Gomez.

"Selena, this message is to you. I didn't get to work with you but I'm going to work with you on your Spanish album. You better call me!" he exclaimed.

Selena achieved great success before she was murdered in 1995. She was named the top Latin artist of the '90s and best-selling Latin artist of the decade by Billboard.
