Britney Spears wants to return to movies as a 'bad girl'.

The singer is keen to resurrect her acting career in 2012. Britney wants to comeback with a bang and sees herself in a number of different roles.

"Definitely next year I am going to take a different route,' she is quoted as saying by British newspaper The Sun. "I see myself being a detective, assassin or even a bad girl."

It has been nearly a decade since Britney's first appearance on the silver screen in the movie Crossroads. She played one of three friends who take a road trip across the USA and renew their friendship and find themselves. The film co-starred Kim Cattrall and a then-largely-unknown Zoe Saldana. Zoe has since gone on to star in some of cinema's biggest films including Avatar and Star Trek.

Britney is currently still in the middle of her Femme Fatale tour. The star recently finished up her UK dates and was due to host an after-party at Mahiki in London on Monday. Despite her backing dancers all attending, Britney failed to make it.

The star reportedly headed back to her hotel room instead.
